LEARNING MODEL

Brooklyn Gardens has selected the Chancellor's Model #2 for 3 groups of students in consideration of the large population.

We are starting the school year with a blended learning schedule. That means that your child will be in school some days and working from home some days. If our county moves into a Level 4 Health Emergency, we will switch to 100% remote learning for all students. Check this page for updates.

  • Group A will be in school on Mondays and Wednesdays and working from home Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Group B will be in school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and working from home Mondays and Wednesdays.

  • Students needing extra academic support may be asked to come in on Fridays for intervention services. Students not coming in for intervention services should plan to continue at-home learning assignments on Fridays.

  • The school day will run from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Students may be dropped off no earlier than 8:30 a.m. and must be picked up promptly at the end of the school day.

Model 2: One to two days per week in alternating weeks, three in-person student groups

  • This model assumes that a school can serve at any given time at least a third of students who choose in-person learning.

  • Because this model provides the greatest degree of regularity, it is the only option for three in-person groups available for elementary schools and is "Chancellor Recommended" for middle schools that can serve a third of their students.

  • In this model, there are three in-person student groups and one fully remote student group.

  • This model has a three-week cycle that will repeat. For each group there will be one consistent day of the week the student will attend in-person, with Monday and Tuesday rotating among groups. Students will participate in remote learning for non-in person days.

  • Students will receive in-person instruction 1-2 days per week for a total of 5 days every 3 weeks. Students will participate in remote learning for non-in person days.

  • Students whose families choose fully remote learning will receive remote instruction every day.

Blended Learning includes a combination of in-person instruction and remote learning virtual instruction.

On the Blended Learning (In-Person at School) days students will be in a classroom with teachers and peers in-person. All people (teachers and students) will be socially distanced at a minimum of 6 feet apart all adhering to the mask wearing requirements.

On the Blended Learning At Home days, along with the Remote Only students, will be experiencing both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent) learning opportunities.
